Woodhart Group named as finalist for Property Business of the Year
The team at Woodhart are celebrating after being named as finalists for Property Business
of the Year at the prestigious 2026 Brighton & Hove Business Awards.
The ceremony takes place at The Grand, Brighton, on Thursday October 1, with the Property
Business award recognising businesses in the sector that have demonstrated outstanding
achievements in the last year.
The family-run construction firm was founded by brothers Matt and Ben Woodhart in 2006,
and the company has grown from a small local carpentry firm into one of the South East’s
most established building companies. Woodhart Group is now made up of four divisions –
Carpentry, Construction, Developments and Property Enhancements.
Matt and Ben Woodhart, co-founders of Woodhart Group, said “We’re really proud to be
named a finalist in the Brighton & Hove Business Awards, and to be recognised among the
best property businesses in our hometown city means a lot. It’s a credit to our whole team.”
Being named a finalist and recognised as a leading business in the city tops off a strong year
for Woodhart. This year has seen the firm named in Hubexo South’s Top 50 Contractors, as
well as securing a £14 million contract with Brighton & Hove City Council to build 43 new
council homes.
Woodhart has also launched a new division, Woodhart Property Enhancements, bringing
structural, fire safety and energy compliance together to help landlords, local authorities,
house builders and homeowners improve and maintain existing buildings – by not just
dealing with symptoms but getting to the root core of the problem. The move reflects the
company’s long-term commitment to delivering safer, warmer and more sustainable
buildings.
Over the last two decades, Woodhart Group has built its reputation on quality workmanship
and long-standing client relationships, working with major developers including Barratt
Homes, Taylor Wimpey, Redrow, CALA and Persimmon, as well as on heritage restoration
projects such as a hotel in Regency Square in Brighton. The business prides itself on
employing local people and contractors as a priority and nurtures the next generation of
talent in the industry through apprenticeships with Brighton MET and East Sussex College.
The team at Woodhart will attend the Brighton & Hove Business Awards on October 1 to
celebrate the achievements of leading businesses in the city.
