As a family business, we believe in providing young people with real opportunities and acting as mentors for the early stages of their profession. We, more than anyone, understand just how tough it is to get started and how important it is that talent is recognised and encouraged. That’s why we’re always looking for young, local people to join the Woodhart team as an apprentice.
We provide apprentices with work experience, ongoing mentoring, college tuition and subsequent qualifications under the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) Apprenticeship scheme.
If you’re looking for a career in carpentry, maybe an apprenticeship could be for you. See below some of the many benefits of working with us as well as the carpentry industry and what our current apprentices have been up to.
The benefits of our apprenticeships
Our apprenticeships are one of the ways that we give back to the local Brighton community. At Woodhart, we believe that apprenticeships benefit us just as much as those who are offered the opportunity. By investing in people and nurturing talent, it makes our business stronger. But why choose one of our apprenticeships? Here are a few benefits about why you should join the Woodhart family:
Learn from Brighton’s best:
We’re an award-winning commercial and domestic carpentry and construction company that is industry accredited with SMAS, CQMS and Construction Line. We’re also a member of the Federation of Master Builders and the Leaders Council. Our team’s skills are hard to match!
Earn while you learn:
All our apprenticeship programs are run through CITB so it’s a great opportunity to gain your qualifications whilst earning a good wage. With our apprenticeships, you’ll be starting your career off on the right foot.
Create a clear career path:
At Woodhart we’re very serious and committed to developing careers. Our goal is to not only invest in our future but yours too. When you apply to be an apprentice, our aim is to offer a clear career progression in whatever area you most enjoy and want to progress in.
Overall our apprenticeships are a great way of building up work skills, getting valuable on-site experience and gaining a knowledge of the industry first hand, setting you up for a future in carpentry.
The benefits of working within the carpentry industry
Where do we even start with the benefits of working within carpentry?! The industry is so versatile, for both those who have studied as well as those who seek to come into carpentry without an educational background. But alas, we’ve nailed it down to some of the key benefits of why we think working in carpentry is a good career choice:
As the demand for private housing, infrastructure and repair and maintenance increases, so does the need for skilled workers.
From management to manual dexterity to understanding design, working in carpentry provides a variety of skills that you can transfer over to any job role. So no matter what role you prefer in carpentry, the skills you can learn are unbeatable.
The 9 to 5 job structure isn’t for everyone and within the carpentry industry each day is very different. It brings you new challenges, locations, and you get to work with a diverse range of people from designers to architects to engineers. It doesn’t always mean you’ll be in the field either, there are also roles in the office too, the choice really does depend on what you’re interested in.
See what some of our apprentices have been up to
We’ve been so proud of the achievements our apprentices have accomplished so far and so it’s only right to share it with all of you!
First up we have Morgan, our Woodhart apprentice who started with us in October 2020. He is doing an amazing job of 1st fixing at Berkeley’s Cranleigh.
Last but definitely not least, we have Sonny, who’s been working on a car port roof at Cala Homes in Horsham.
We can’t wait to see what else they and the rest of our apprentices get up to in the next few months.
