“You’re hired!” – Why Woodhart is looking for more apprentices in Brighton

14th February 2017

When Matt and Ben Woodhart set up their carpentry business in Brighton ten years ago they had spent 16 hard years on sites across Sussex gaining the carpentry, construction and project management skills they needed. It was a tough road to travel – but a thoroughly rewarding one.

Today the Woodhart Group consists of three divisions specialising in new build commercial carpentry, domestic extensions and property development.

With Growth Comes Investment In Future Growth

That’s one reason that we are looking for more local young people to join our team and become apprentices.
We currently have seven apprentices working under an acclaimed scheme that is backed by the governing body of our industry. You can find out more about the CITB’s scheme here.

We offer apprentices work experience, ongoing mentoring and the chance to have your college study and qualifications paid for. You will earn a wage and gain the skills and experience that you need to start building your own career.

Investing In Your Future Is Investing In Our Future

Nothing is ever more difficult than getting started. It was a hard slog for Matt and Ben to build their skills and build their business but it would have been impossible without the help and support they received from industry professionals along the way.

What was true back then is even truer today.

The challenges faced by young people looking to gain a foothold into a job that offers real career prospects in Brighton are immense in 2016. We, more than anyone, understand just how tough it is to get started and how important it is that your talent is recognised and nurtured.

Apprenticeships are one of the ways that Woodhart gives back to the local Brighton community that it works in and for.
Yet, we believe that apprenticeships benefit us just as much as those who are offered them. Apprenticeships are actually a reflection of a core part of our ethos. We believe that investing in people and nurturing talent makes our business stronger. We aim to provide long-term career employment, and so training and development provides us with the benefits of a highly skilled and loyal workforce who understand our values and the needs of our customers.

This commitment to our employees is shown by our low staff turnover – and you can read a bit more about that here.
