Brightwell’s Yard, Farnham for Crest Nicholson

Project overview

Restoration of the original Grade II listed Brightwell House to restore it to its former glory as part of the Brightwell’s Yard redevelopment.

The vision was to divide the building into two cafes or restaurants whilst retaining the original features, such as the chimneys, windows, staircase and glazed veranda, preserved and reinstated for the public to enjoy. A particularly satisfying challenge was to reinstate the missing lower flight to the 19th century staircase complete with scrolled tread ends, balustrading and handrail.

The 1960’s theatre addition which was used by the Farnham Repertory Theatre Trust until 1998 was replaced with an attractive wrap-around extension featuring hardwood cladding to the walls and soffit line.
