Job purpose:
Woodhart Construction’s site managers will have experience in new builds, refurbishment works and extensions within the private and commercial sectors. You will be the lead figure and point of contact on-site with the operatives, and through email/phone correspondence with regard to managing clients, contract administrators and designers’ queries.
Responsibilities:
- Liaising with Client/ CA to keep them informed of the build program and how the job is progressing. Communication is key to success.
- Health & Safety, General H&S Is adhered to by all trades and site is CDM compliant.
- Take off of materials and issue requisition sheets for buyer to arrange purchasing of materials for site. Collection of materials is a last resort.
- Accountability for all materials arriving on site, materials must be checked on delivery.
- Coordinating and communicating with the relevant trades to ensure a fast, efficient and systematic sequence of works. No out of sequence works.
- Responsible for calling sub-contractors & Supply Orders to site. Being aware of lead in time. They will already be placed on contract. Communication & pro-active planning is key.
- Building & maintaining relationships with sub-contractors.
- Managing in-house & sub-contractor labour pool to achieve first class finish.
- Quality assurances sheets are compiled and completed ensuring that elements of works are signed of. Snagging as you work, ensuring all works are carried out to a high standard.
- Receiving and understanding project goals from outset and fully understand the scope of works. Identifying variations and presenting as they arise.
- Materials such as UPVC windows & doors, concrete, steels, staircases, kitchens etc. have long lead times these need to be identified from programme and ordered with enough lead in time, prior to installation on site.
- Ensuring clean, clear, organised site. Rubbish clearance or skips to be effectively utilised to ensure this. Some signs will incorporate segregated waste. Some sites may incorporate segregated waste.
- Being absolutely aware of costs and over spending on jobs. Alongside health & safety, profit and loss should be a primary focus on the success of the build.
- Ensuring projects are kept on program to the working program that is issued. If this cannot be met, discuss with team.
- RFI Logs with Design Team.
- Capturing delays and variations and presenting to contracts manager & surveyor.
- Weekly progress reports with Management team.
- Reporting directly to Contracts manager on progress, programmes, issues, delays etc.
- Working in a management team to deliver successful build with clear structure of responsibilities.
- Completing and filing client monthly reports.

- Completing weekly tasks, such as site reports, health & safety check lists, fire check list, scaffold inspections.
- Approving shifts on Buildertrend for in-house operatives.
- General interaction with Buildertrend, including daily logs, progress photos and programmes.
- Monthly Labour forecast.
- Attending weekly labour allocation meetings.
Skills:
You must be confident, exceptionally thorough and be able to run a work force with strong leadership skills.
Communication is key to success with the role, although there is a clear structure, being dynamic & responsive to the requirements of the site is essential.
